What to look for in fertilizer spreaders
- Broadcast vs drop
- Broadcast spreaders throw wide and forgive overlap — the right default for most lawns. Drop spreaders are precise but need careful adjacent passes.
- Calibration
- Settings on the fertilizer bag are model-specific; calibrate once by weighing product used over a known area.
Apply half your fertilizer north–south and half east–west — the cross-hatch pattern hides small overlap errors.
